I love living in Germany and sometimes I really need to find a book in English. I’ve decided to make a list of my favorite bookstores that offer English language books, especially those that offer English language books for ages 9 to 12. We all know that voracious readers need books, whether they’re at home or traveling.

English Language Books In and Around Bonn
My family orders books here all the time–and we always find something else we need when we pick up our orders.
Thalia Bonn Duisdorf has some children’s and adult books in English.
Der Buchladen am Neuen Markt in Meckenheim is very cute and carries some English books for kids.
German Language Bookstores in Bonn
These beautiful independent bookstores don’t currently carry books in English.
Altstadtbuchhandlung This tiny and well-curated bookstore has no English books. You may see it if you come to admire the cherry blossoms in Bonn, because they are on the famous cherry blossom street.
Der Kleine Laden specializes in children’s books in German. They have told me they can order books in English, but I haven’t tried that yet. They have a lovely tiny playground next to the store. I have to include them, because the store and its friendly and smart staff are a thing of beauty.

Dussmann das KulturKaufhaus has an English-language bookstore inside of the larger German bookstore.
