The Magic of Growing Up

Have you ever had problems speaking up at a feast, reading a map, taking a test in a strange kingdom, or being fair to your friends? The kids in the Seven Kingdoms can relate!

These smart and friendly heroes and heroines . . .

  • speak up, (and hatch dragons),
  • take tests, (and defeat the Blackfly queen),
  • deal with less than perfect scores, (and cupids),
  • find their way around, (and get lost),
  • stay friends even when they disagree, (and babysit an illegal baby dragon)
  • find a way to belong in a new place (and welcome out-of-town giants)
  • and more!

When you’re on an extraordinary adventure, it’s funny how an overlooked skill can help.

Running readers through the emotional wringer is not the goal. These family-friendly stories are designed to be playful, with nonsensical–yet logical–twists and turns. Their anything-is-possible tone is inspired by young readers’ powerful and creative brains.

Happy reading!

bookcover Rule Trouble

“I loved the idea of the Seven Kingdoms . . . allowing children to make the rules and legally upholding them . . . I found myself wanting to adopt a baby dragon myself. I know children will feel the same way because he was just too irresistible . . . I highly recommend this story!” [5 stars]

About the author

Laurel Decher

Laurel Decher lives in the outskirts of a mid-sized city in Germany, between a medieval chapel on St. James’ Way and a boundary marker tree complete with scary face. It’s a little surprising, since she expected to live in Vermont for the rest of her life. You never know when adventure will call.

Her books are about taking advantage of opportunities that scare us (or that we are positive aren’t for us.) *cough* Because these are the risks make life richer and more magical. Every kid knows that. 🙂

Kingdoms
